Foster and Kinship Carer Week runs from 10-16 September 2023 and the Department for Child Protection, in collaboration with  non-government partners, is hosting events to thank and celebrate our state's dedicated foster and kinship carers.

As a carer, you play such an important role in keeping children and young people safe, and giving them opportunities to thrive and succeed in life.

The week is about celebrating the contributions you make to the lives of children and young people.

Events and activities to celebrate the week are different for each location. To help with catering, we ask that all carers who are planning to attend an event register on the Foster and Kinship Carer Week event page.  If you need some help to register, please reach out to your DCP caseworker or kinship worker.

These events are open to all approved foster and kinship carers in South Australia. If you’re part of a two carer household, both carers can attend an event. Carers can attend an event that best suits them in regards to location and date/time, you do not have to attend the event that is linked to your local office.
