Through the Investing in their future initiative, the Department for Child Protection is excited to have partnered with Youth Opportunities to offer a second round of scholarships for young people with a care experience aged 15-25 to complete a personal leadership program.

Commencing May 2023, the 3-month self-paced online program is designed to increase young people’s wellbeing and resilience, develop their communication and goal setting skills, and build the habits and a mindset that will set them up for success in their future.

Young people receive a personal coach and attend facilitated group workshops where they can connect and share in their learning.

DCP was proud to hold a celebration in December 2022 for the first cohort of graduates. In the video below, you can hear about some of their experiences and how the program supported them to use their voice and feel confident in making decisions about their future.

To undertake the program, all a young person needs is:

  • Access to a computer and the internet
  • 1.5–2 hours a week to work through the content (but they choose when to learn)

Young people can register their interest in enrolling in the Thrive@Life program by emailing CPReform@sa.gov.au.
