This week is the Family Matters National Week of Action (20-26 May), a call to action for building a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

This week is the Family Matters National Week of Action (20-26 May), a call to action for building a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

The theme for this year's event is 'Because of them, we must'.

The Department for Child Protection SA is a signatory to the Family Matters’ Statement Of Commitment (signed on 15 May 2017), actively working to reduce the number of Aboriginal children and young people in out-of-home care.

DCP is proud to support a free community event, which will be held in Light Square, Adelaide, on Saturday 25 May from 12pm to 3pm, which will include:

  • A free barbecue
  • Face painting
  • Badge making
  • Traditional weaving activities
  • Traditional dance by Dusty Feet Mob and Imbala Peramangk Dance Group
  • Singer Catherine Carter
  • Poet Mandy Brown.
