The Department for Child Protection has officially retired the 2008 Standards of Alternative Care in South Australia document, which has been replaced with the National Standards for out-of-home care.
The retired 2008 Standards of Alternative Care document has been permanently removed from our public-facing website.
The National Standards, agreed upon by state and territory governments and the Commonwealth provide a more contemporary, high-level overview of out-of-home care standards and continue to be used as part of national requirements.
Under Safe & Supported: The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021 to 2031 the current National Standards will be updated by 2025.
