Thank you to our partners who nominated to be a part of the foster and kinship care promotional stall at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show (2 – 10 September).
The department will again partner with non-government family-based care providers to host a stall offering information about foster and kinship care.
Last year, 56 staff from 10 agencies volunteered on the stall and held about 400 conversations about foster and kinship care with the public.
Eric Cruz, from Centacare’s Foster Care Program, said his team was thrilled with the amount of genuine interest that people had when they approached the stall in 2022.
“Many reported that they had been thinking about foster care for a while and by having a presence at the show, it prompted them to ask some further explorative questions,” Eric says.
“To have a presence at the stall is important to promote all the good that can come out of being a carer. It was also a good opportunity to acknowledge and thank current carers for all the work they do, especially during Child Protection Week.”
