You may have seen recently that the first Action Plans have been launched to implement Safe and Supported: The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021 to 2031.

DCP is proud to have worked alongside SNAICC – National Voice for Our Children, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Group, the National Coalition for Child Safety and Wellbeing and other jurisdictions to help develop these plans, with Fiona Ward, Deputy Chief Executive, co-leading the work.

There are two action plans, one specific to Aboriginal children and families and one which is general. The action plans implement Safe and Supported’s ambitious 10-year strategy to help children grow up supported in their families, community and culture and to reduce the rates of child abuse and neglect across Australia.

The actions plans will also help drive national efforts under Closing the Gap to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out of home care.

You can find out more about the national goals of Safe and Supported and its action plans, including commitments to better support vulnerable children and their families, on the department’s website.

Make sure you also view the full action plans.
