With high temperatures expected over the coming days, carers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider how they can look after their families and the children and young people in their care, during extreme heat.

All carers in bushfire prone areas should have their Bushfire Ready Plan in place and know how to stay informed of the risks in the event of an emergency evacuation.

It is advised that carers plan ahead, track weather and heat conditions.

During times of extreme heat, it is recommended that carers do not travel long distances in cars and if travel is required, ensure there is sufficient water supply and fire blankets. Meetings should be moved to phone or online to avoid unnecessary travel.

In the event of an emergency, follow the up to date advice provided by the Country Fire Service and SA State Emergency Service.
