A big thankyou to all the carers who helped children and young people enter the 2021 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day artwork competition!

The Department for Child Protection partnered with Reconciliation SA to deliver the competition, with more than 100 entries from across five categories received.

Judges were impressed with the quality and the diversity of submitted pieces and thank the children and young people who took part.

The theme for Children's Day this year was 'Proud in Culture, Strong in Spirit'.

The original artwork winners are:

Shakyah (original artwork) - Shakyah describes her winning pieces as “feeling free like a turtle swimming”.

Zeisha (original artwork) -  "This artwork represents this years theme by using feather to show how colourful life is especially in natural Australia. I feel like I am always happy outside."

Tyson (original artwork) - “This is my story about my painting called dancing boy. I am a strong, proud Kookatha young man that loves dancing and painting about my culture."

The colouring in competition winners were Luca (below left) and Leah (below right).
