Backpacks 4 SA Kids

The Department for Child Protection and Backpacks 4 SA Kids (B4SAK) have teamed up to give children entering care or changing placements, a backpack with essential and fun items to brighten their day.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (PDF 93KB), Backpacks 4 SA Kids will provide more backpacks with essential items, and provide children in care with gifts at Christmas and other special times.

When children move into new living arrangements, it can cause uncertainty and worry. The backpacks include some of the comforts of home such as pyjamas, a tooth brush, activity books, hair brush, soft toys and much more that can make a difference in helping them settle into their new environment.

Thanks to the efforts of Backpacks 4 SA Kids and department caseworkers, hundreds of children have already received backpacks providing them with something special they can call their own during times of uncertainty.
