The Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) provides direct advice and lived experience guidance to the Minister for Child Protection and the broader child protection and family support system.
Membership of the council includes 16 children and young people aged between 13 to 18 years of age, who hold an important role in representing the diverse views of children and young people with an out of home care experience.
Our vision is:
- That children and young people are heard, and that their feedback is acted on by decision makers.
Our purpose is to:
- help make the experience better for all children and young people in care
- ensure that the voice of children and young people in care is heard by decision makers, including the Minister for Child Protection
- work alongside other Ministerial Advisory Groups to support and encourage ongoing reform of the child protection and family support system.
