The Shared Lives 2024 update has been completed and the updated materials are now available for workers who have completed the required ACWA training.
From 1st January 2025, only the 2024 version of Shared Lives can be used to train prospective foster carers.
Workers must be authorised to present Shared Lives 2024. A national database of authorised Shared Lives presenters is maintained by the Association of Children's Welfare Agencies (ACWA).
Authorisation is awarded to staff who have
- Previously attended Shared Lives training conducted by an presenter accredited by the ACWA, and have subsequently completed the online familiarisation to Shared Lives 2024, or
- Complete the Shared Lives 2024 presenter training and demonstrate appropriate training skills.
ACWA will provide workers who are authorised to present Shared Lives SA 2024 will be provided with the Shared Lives training material, including the Leaders Guide, Participant Workbooks, PowerPoints and training resources.
