March Read to Me book packages are about to be sent out to all children in care under the age of seven.

Read to Me is a book gifting program operated by Raising Literacy Australia that supports children in care to improve their reading and language skills.

The project recognises the importance of accessing quality age-appropriate books and encourages positive adult–child interactions to support healthy brain development.

All children in care under seven years old automatically receive free books as gifts every three months, creating a library they can keep and enjoy for many years to come.

Books are delivered each March, June, September, and December and are selected based on each child’s age.

A start-up library launches each child’s reading journey, featuring 10 age-appropriate picture and board books, a Read to Me library bag and carer resources, including an activity book and role-modelling DVD.

Our Read to Me page details the full selection of book packs and other information about the program

If you are caring for a child under seven years old and have not been receiving book packs, please talk to your child’s case worker.
