Have your say on the draft CYPSS Act Regulations

We are seeking feedback on draft regulations to support the Children and Young People (Safety and Support) Act 2025 (CYPSS Act).

The CYPSS Act has already passed Parliament. This consultation is focused on the draft regulations, which provide some of the administrative detail to support the operation of the CYPSS Act.

We want to hear from children and young people, families, carers, service providers, practitioners and community members and seek views around whether the draft regulations are clear and will properly support the Act.

Hear from the Minister for Child Protection about why this consultation is important and how you can get involved.

About the consultation

The draft regulations provide the administrative detail needed to support operation of the CYPSS Act ahead of its commencement.

They cover a range of areas, including:

  • responding to notifications
  • support for children and young people
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation
  • oversight and accountability
  • out of home care.

Your feedback will help inform refinement of the regulations before they are finalised.
