To thank and celebrate our dedicated foster and kinship carers as part of Foster and Kinship Carer Week 2022, the Department for Child Protection, in collaboration with our non-government partners, is hosting events across South Australia this September.

As a carer, you play such an important role in keeping children and young people safe, and giving them opportunities to thrive and succeed in life.

DCP is committed to ensuring all of our carers are informed, supported, consulted, valued and respected. Foster and Kinship Carer Week is an important time for DCP, foster care support agencies and the community to show foster and kinship carers how much we respect and value your commitment to the children and young people you care for.

The week is about celebrating the contributions you make to the lives of children and young people.

You will receive an invitation in the mail shortly.

These events are open to all approved foster and kinship carers in South Australia. If you’re part of a two carer household, we welcome both of you to attend. You can attend an event that best suits you in regards to location and date/time, you do not have to attend the event that is linked to your local office.

Events and activities to celebrate the week are different for each location. To help with catering, we ask that you register via the relevant Eventbrite link on this page. Please contact your DCP case worker or kinship worker if you need help registering for an event.
