Additional funding

For General Family Based Care and Specialist Family Based Care Agreements, DCP may pay the Service Provider a unit price for each additional placement achieved above Minimum Placements specified in Attachment 4 of Service Provider’s Not for Profit (NFP) Funded Agreement.

  1. Additional placements are calculated in line with the DCP Out of Home Care Placement Utilisation and Funding Policy (PDF, 735.4 KB); and
  2. Contracts specifically only for the delivery of Respite care are excluded from additional funding
  3. Additional funding will be paid in the Quarter following receipt of the quarterly placement data report

Additional funding for placement performance above contracted targets is determined via the contract quarterly performance management processes and will be paid at the DCP approved standard unit rate.

Loadings

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) Loading

Family based care Aboriginal loadings are applied to all family based contracts based on the cultural background of children and young people in care. This is determined based on the child or young person’s DCP record.

The Aboriginal loadings reflect the additional layer of complexity associated with the care and support provided to Aboriginal children and young people while retaining their connection to culture.

The Aboriginal loading is applied at 4% on top of the base unit price and are included within a service providers block funded amount shown in Attachment 5 of the Not for Profit (NFP) Funded agreement.

Remoteness loading

Family based care remoteness loadings are applied to all family based contracts based on the location of carer households. The remoteness loadings reflect the increased cost associated with supporting carers in rural and remote locations.

The remoteness loadings are based on the Federal Government’s geographic remoteness classification (ASGS-RA).

The remoteness loading classification for each carer household can be determined by entering a carer household address into this locator tool and selecting “ASGS Remoteness Areas (2016)” as the search layer.

For General Family Based Care and Specialist Family Based Care remoteness loadings will be applied to the base unit price at the following rates:

  1. 0% for RA1 (Major city in Australia) & RA2 (Inner region of Australia)
  2. 8% for RA3 (Out regional Australia)
  3. 25% for RA4 (Remote Australia)
  4. 29% for RA5 (Very remote Australia).

These loadings are included within a Service Provider's block funded amount shown in Attachment 5 of the Not for Profit (NFP) Funded agreement.
