We have recently received some questions about whether WWCCs apply to people with a severe disability. Please note that people with severe disabilities are not exempt from obtaining a WWCC.

All adults working or volunteering with children must now have a working with children check (WWCC). This includes carers, members of their households and regular guests.

We have recently received some questions about whether WWCCs apply to people with a severe disability. Please note that people with severe disabilities are not exempt from obtaining a WWCC. For example, if a carer’s adult child has a severe disability and lives at home, they must have a valid WWCC. However, the carer can lawfully act on their behalf and sign the application form.
