The recent Connecting Foster & Kinship Carers SA Annual General Meeting (AGM) provided an opportunity to farewell to 2 long-standing board members - Donna Scott (Vice Chair) and Kate Harmer (Secretary) - and reflect on the organisation’s achievements as the peak representative body for foster and kinship carers.
This included providing more than 180 occasions of individual advocacy for carers, coordinating a range of carer events and activities and working closely with DCP staff at both an executive and local officer level.
The AGM featured a speech from the Minister for Child Protection, Rachel Sanderson, as well as a presentation from Department for Child Protection staff on the new Practice Approach.
Attendees also enjoyed inspiring and entertaining presentations from three carers (Fleur Smith, Kathryn Tapley and Karen Weeks) who shared their experiences from the recent National Foster & Kinship Care Conference in Perth.
