Children and young people under guardianship and custody orders now have a My Health Record, supporting better ongoing health care. This national initiative ensures that medical information is stored centrally and is readily available when a young person leaves care.
A My Health Record is particularly useful when a child or young person:
- has complex health issues
- requires multiple healthcare providers
- has multiple changes of address.
We have created two fact sheets outlining this change – a guide for carers and a guide for young people. We encourage service providers to use these resources when discussing My Health Record with carers and young people.
