Foster and Kinship Carer Week is underway, recognising the state’s dedicated carers for the vital work they do supporting children and young people.

Held from Sunday 11 September to Saturday 17 September 2022, the week celebrates the role carers play in the community, providing a safe, nurturing and loving home in which children and young people can grow and thrive.

At the end of June 2022, there were 1774 kinship carer households and 1404 foster carer households in South Australia.

The Department for Child Protection and its partner agencies are hosting events to recognise and celebrate carers for their work.

Activities include:

  • Local lunches and morning teas across the state
  • A display of messages of thanks to the state’s carers in the Gallery, Ground Floor, 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide.

We will also be sharing some inspiring stories about our wonderful carers, and you’ll be able to catch up on these stories on the DCP Facebook page.

Foster and kinship carers provide safe, loving and stable home environments to the children who need it most.
