Is a child in your care preparing to transition to independence? This can be an exciting and sometimes daunting time for both the young person and you as their carer.

GOM Central is a multimedia resource designed in collaboration with young people to support their transition from care, containing information, support and videos.

The resource also features the innovative GOM City game, which challenges young people to pass house inspections, hold a job, pay their rent and report to Centrelink. By simulating these important life skills, the game can help to support young people’s transition from care.

GOM Central has been created by Relationships Australia SA and the Australian Institute of Social Relations, in collaboration with a group of young people with experience of living in care. The young people chose to reclaim the term “GOM” as part of their self-empowerment process.
