Apology to victims and survivors of institutional child sexual abuse

On Monday 22 October 2018 the Prime Minister of Australia delivered a National Apology in Parliament House, Canberra to people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse. 

To recognise this significant occasion, the Government of South Australia, in collaboration with local councils, hosted 6 morning events to acknowledge and apologise for the institutional failures that led to abuse. These events were for people who were abused, and their families and supporters.

The State Government also delivered an apology to those who experienced abuse in South Australian institutions. 

Events were held in the following locations:
