Foster and Kinship Carer Week

Foster and Kinship Carer Week is being held from 9 to 15 September 2018.

The week is an opportunity for everyone to acknowledge the selfless work carried out by foster and kinship carers who choose to care and open their hearts and homes for children and young people.

We say thank you to our amazing foster and kinship carers by having a range of activities on offer throughout the week.

Activities include:

  • Central dinner event for carers located in metropolitan Adelaide
  • Local events and celebrations across the state.

South Australian foster care agencies will also be hosting events around the state.

About our foster and kinship carers

The department has more than 2,300 foster and kinship carers who choose to care and plan an active role in helping children and young people grow up connected and empowered to reach their full potential.

They provide safe, loving and stable home environments to the children who need it most.

We are always in need of more foster carers. If you would like to find out more, see Types of foster care.
