Carers should actively support all children and young people in their care to engage in activities that ensure they remain connected to family, community, language, religion and culture. This should occur in consultation with the DCP case worker as part of a child or young person’s case plan.

Maintaining contact with their family will enhance a child or young person’s psychological wellbeing and identity. Contact can be between a child or young person and a parent, sibling, or extended family member.
