A message to our carers about the lifting of the coronavirus lockdown.

Today the Premier of South Australia has announced that the current lockdown will be lifted from midnight tonight (Tuesday 27 July 2021).

This is welcome news however it is important to highlight that restrictions still remain in place in South Australia at this time of heightened risk for our community.

As always, our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our children, young people and carers.

We want to ensure you have the best possible support for your caring role and the online carer platform has a range of information related to COVID 19.

Please do not hesitate to talk to your agency or kinship support worker– they are there to help. If you think the child or young person in your care may need extra support, please talk to their case worker.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the vulnerable children and young people in your care.

Below is some key information to help keep you informed.

Family contact and home visits

We are very pleased that all planned family contact and home visits will resume, as with our normal practice.

Current health advice requires our staff to wear masks, so please be aware that the person who visits you will wear a mask in line with this requirement and to ensure safe practice.

If you have any questions, please make contact with the case manager allocated to the child in your care.

Schools

Schools and child care will re-open for all children from Wednesday morning.

Masks will be required for children attending secondary schools and we understand that public schools will be providing masks for students.

Your child’s school or child care centre will be available to discuss any needs your child may have.

Visiting local offices

Our local offices will be open without requiring an appointment from Wednesday 28 July should you wish to come in to see us.

We ask that all visitors wear masks due to the current health advice that masks should be work in public spaces. If you arrive at our offices without a mask, please be reassured that there will be masks available in our reception areas for willing visitors.
